LIVE NRL: Knights carving up embarrassing Roosters as star faces nervous judiciary wait

There has been some early drama in the Roosters-Knights Pre-Season Challenge match, with star forward Spencer Leniu sin binned. The Knights lead 42-4 after 55 minutes.

In an incident that wasn’t picked up by the referee right away, Leniu collected the head of Phoenix Crossland with his shoulder in a tackle.

After the Bunker looked at the tackle, the direction was made to the on-field referee to sin bin Leniu.

Leniu inadvertently knocked his own head in the tackle and had to go for an HIA on top of the sin bin.

He could face some scrutiny from the match review committee and is in some doubt for Round 1.

The Knights have been excellent in the first half, with young gun Fletcher Sharpe starring in the halves.

He’s scored two tries as Newcastle have carved up the Roosters’ outside backs. Kalyn Ponga has seemingly been in everything as well.

The Roosters meanwhile have been extremely poor.

Their defence has been non-existant in a worrying sign just 11 days out from their season opener against the Broncos.
